Christian AuthorAfter a career in office management (family business), my "day job", my fifties have brought about a new exhortation from the LORD, at various points in homeless and prison ministries, studying of pastoral counseling, and at present concentrating on inspirational writing, with two projects, a novel and a short piece compilation in the works.

I am a widower, with two adult daughters and one grandson. Of late, and quite simply, I have found my prayer to be, "Lord, just point me in the direction, that YOU would have me go, Amen."

Thanks For Listening
Christian Article  - Other
Fiction: False
Odd at first glance to think of and consider "Thanks For Listening" when dealing with a written word. But consider again, does something always have to be audible to be listened to? Certainly not if the listening is done with the heart. There is a concept for which I am not acquainted with the full origin, but I nonetheless understand and appreciate. It is the "lebh shomea", the "listening hea ... Read Christian Article

God Ain't No Tow Truck Driver
Christian Article  - God's Love
Fiction: False
God ain’t no tow truck driver, just to be called on only when and if you break down. But He will be, because He loves you. Neither is He some motel desk clerk to be called upon only when you are weary and rung out for the night. But He will be, because He loves you. God wants to be there, if we let Him, at the start of the trip, to make certain everything is tied down and secure, and ... Read Christian Article

There But For the Grace of God
Christian Article  - Grace
Fiction: False
“There but for the grace of God go I.” At times this has taken on an almost sanctimonious air of position when in reality and origin it was very much the opposite. “There but for the grace of God goes John Bradford” was spoken by Bradford from his prison cell as he watched another man being led to execution. FROM A CELL! Working with prison ministries has offered me a new perspective; that ... Read Christian Article

Common Ground
Christian Article  - Inspirational
Fiction: False
In the time of Christ, it was practice that the disciples would seek out the teacher they chose to follow. But in Christ, He the Master Teacher sought out the disciples, went to where they were, met them on common ground, whether the seashore and fishing boats, the tax booth, or wherever. In prison ministry, the brothers come from their dormitories to the visitation area. We, as volunteers come ... Read Christian Article

Perspective
Christian Poetry  - Christian Living
Fiction: False
I’m not where I was this time last year, I am where I am right now. Let me find in the moment God’s direction and will, as before Him I humbly bow. The past is past and can be no more, let me learn from it nonetheless. Not memories and scars of pain and sorrow, but the ways He chose to bless. May I take each day as manna received, and as water that from the rock spring ... Read Christian Poetry

The Journey And The Task
Christian Article  - Inspirational
Fiction: False
I would rather make the journey and find out there is no task, than to not make the journey and there be a task undone. For even the journey itself is an exercise in discipline and dedication, an exercise in willing faith. If we are only willing to make the effort of the journey with a guarantee of the task upon arrival, then the task itself takes on the aspect of reward for the journey. We be ... Doors Of The Heart
Christian Article  - Inspirational
Fiction: False
The Bible speaks of assurances of “rooms prepared within His mansion”. This is out of love and compassion. The Bible also speaks, in parable, of our “building bigger barns”. This is out of desire of control and value placed upon the material to assert that desire. Heavenly mansion, or earthly barn; which is more important? The “doors” of the heavenly mansion are open to invite. The “doors” o ... Read Christian Article

Raise The Sail
Christian Article  - Inspirational
Fiction: False
Even when you loose sight of your destination, remember it is the lighthouse that reaches out to find the sailor, not the sailor who finds the lighthouse. And while there are times to row, there will also be times that we need to surrender. We need to be willing to lay aside the oars and raise the sail, acknowledging there is a greater power in control; something outside and beyond ourselves. G ... Read Christian Article

The Farmer Walked His Fields Each Day
Christian Poetry  - Inspirational
Fiction: False
The farmer walked his fields each day, and ne’er was he alone. For he communed with God in prayer, and for each prayer laid a stone. Upon the fallow ground he tilled, and planted out his seeds. Upon the fallow ground he prayed, for folks and for their deeds. With nurtured love he raised his crops, with eye on seasons’ goals. But harvest yields of those sweet fields ... Oh, Let Me Climb My Mountain, Lord
Christian Poetry  - Encouragement

Oh, let me climb my mountain, Lord, one step at a time. Looking ever upward, and never more behind. For stumbling comes so easy, when distraction intervenes. Oh, let me climb my mountain, Lor ... Read Christian Poetry

Patriotism Of The Common Man - A Soldier’s Prayer
Christian Poetry  - Inspirational
Fiction: False
Father, I am but a common man, some call the rank and file; but greater deeds and nobler cause come once in a while. I recognize that by your Grace, I am truly blessed. And so, I don this ... Read Christian Poetry

The Centurion
Christian Poetry  - Christianity
Fiction: False
The centurion knelt at the foot of the cross, looking up at the man hanging there. “Surely this man was the Son Of God.”, he’d just been moved to declare. “But what do I now with this knowledge?” he asked. “What did this day I learn?” “What change will be wrought, what differences sought, when I to my legions return?” “Will I follow still the orders of man, with conquest my only g ... God Sat On My Front Porch Swing
Christian Poetry  - God's Love

God sat on my front porch swing, and gazed up in the sky, the stars of HIS creation, but likewise so was I. I sat against the porch rail, humble circumspect; that He who breathed the cosmos, would my life direct.
