If Jesus picked a guitar, what songs would he compose?
What melodies would he select and what words would he choose?
To get his message point across to our listening hearts and ears,
what verse and chorus brought before us to calm our doubts and fears?
Songs to raise our spirits, when we are out of sort.
Songs to pick us up again, encourage and exhort.
Songs of trial and circumstance in life we can’t avoid,
but of endurance, faith, assurance by Grace we ain’t destroyed.
So, Jesus pick your guitar, then, pierced hands upon the strings,
Sweet relief in our belief of what your mercy brings.
