The farmer walked his fields each day,
and ne’er was he alone.
For he communed with God in prayer,
and for each prayer laid a stone.
Upon the fallow ground he tilled,
and planted out his seeds.
Upon the fallow ground he prayed,
for folks and for their deeds.
With nurtured love he raised his crops,
with eye on seasons’ goals.
But harvest yields of those sweet fields
were also for those souls.
For each soul a stone was placed
as prayer was heaven bound.
He felt rock sure with faith secure
the answer would be found.
Thirty seasons’ harvests came
and thirty seasons prayer.
He walks in heaven’s garden now,
in straight rows bright and fair.
The stones remained, and formed their wall,
but only for a while.
For progress came and claimed their place,
but God knew not defile.
Each prayer he made in thirty years,
was made of faith so rare.
The heritage their answers made,
will ever more be there.
