- Fiction No
Though my belly be empty, they be holes in my shoes,
long as I got my Jesus, ain’t got me no blues.
‘Cause folks got they stuff, they just don’t understands,
whole world really rests in them nail pierced hands.
So I walk me these streets, while the folks passes by,
ain’t gonna be noticed when comes my time to die.
Not noticed by them, but the angels---they’ll see,
and they’ll come on down to fetch and carry me.
Fetch and carry me home to my Savior’s embrace,
fetch and carry me home to a whole better place.
A whole better place, full belly and soul,
no holes in my shoes on them streets of gold.
