Christian Author Writer Apprehend the Victorious Life In Christ...

These few thoughts are some brief lessons I'm learning on prayer. It is imperative that we realize that skillful prayer is our eternal lifeline. It is the only way to a life of knowing and walking with the Father. It is the key to our kingdom life and victory. This is how we overcome and take authority over our own flesh and then over our enemies. As we learn how to pray privately and skillfully in our prayer closets we will apprehend the victory that Jesus died to win for us. . We must fine tune our ears to hearing the call of the Lord in our hearts and quickly responding. Our Father is so patient with us as we are learning how to walk with Him, but we must demonstrate a passion for communion with Him. We must learn how to walk worthy of Him.

A good example is found in the passage of scripture in the Song of Solomon. The Beloved had to learn how to deny self and respond to her Beloved immediately.

Song of Sol 5:
2 I sleep, but my heart waketh: it is the voice of my beloved that knocketh, saying, Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my undefiled: for my head is filled with dew, and my locks with the drops of the night. 3 I have put off my coat; how shall I put it on? I have washed my feet; how shall I defile them? 4 My beloved put in his hand by the hole of the door, and my bowels were moved for him. I rose up to open to my beloved; and my hands dropped with myrrh, and my fingers with sweet smelling myrrh, upon the handles of the lock.

6 I opened to my beloved; but my beloved had withdrawn himself, and was gone: my soul failed when he spake: I sought him, but I could not find him; I called him, but he gave me no answer. 7 The watchmen that went about the city found me, they smote me, they wounded me; the keepers of the walls took away my veil from me. 8 I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem, if ye find my beloved, that ye tell him, that I am sick of love.

We see that the beloved Shulamite was passionate for her Beloved. But she came to a place in which she drew back from her first love. Her beloved knocked on the door of her heart and she heard Him, but she made excuses. She talked herself out of a right response. She not willing to leave her place of comfort in order to answer her Beloved. We can see that He did not wait for her, He went on. It's revealed in the earlier portion of the Song that she had drawn very close to Him and that He was first in her heart. But her passion cooled and He sensed it. As we read on, we see that she began to suffer in her relationships. She fell short of the victory to rise up and soar. We see that she had to renew her passion to seek Him and the restoration of her first love.

Being led by the Holy Spirit in a passionate and victorious prayer life is also modeled by Jacob, who wrestled passionately in prayer, saying "I will not leave here until you bless me". In God's word we are instructed to "Watch and pray so that we will not enter into temptation." We are promised that Father will always provide a way to escape all temptations as we pray in obedience. Father will never tell us to do anything that He will not abundantly equip us to do.

We can never take our fellowship with our Beloved for granted. We must never take His word lightly. He is a jealous God and only whole hearted devotion pleases Him. Only as we learn how to flow smoothly with Him in His times will we be equipped to mount up with wings like eagles and soar up above the storms of life.

Father, please be our Keeper and our guide into a life full of the triumph you always cause in Christ Jesus. Teach us how to fine tune our ears to your voice. We want to become pliable learners transformed into the image of your Son. May your kingdom come and your will be done. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever, Father..
