The pursuit of happiness is the life work and desire of all men. Love relationships are one of the most precious and vital parts of our lives. The relationships of man and wife, their children, their lifestyle and the company they keep are the foundation society is built upon. This is the place where we are established in the behavior patterns that will stay with us throughout our lives. We who study God's word realize that the natural man has no control over the deeply embedded character flaws that all men who live independent of Jesus Christ are subject to.
Jeremiah 13:23
Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil
We know that only by the goodness and grace of divine intervention can learned behavior be changed. However, I believe the desire to do good and to want good relationships is present in most every man. Hearts yearn for the kind of love we hear about in many great love songs. It seems that the whole world is so hungry to love and to be loved! However the sad fact is that the failure of the love and marriage relationship is one of the most serious problems of our world. Sick and hurting marriages and relationships cause ripples of bitterness and strife which effect the atmosphere of our homes and families. Fighting and wars in the home life lay a foundation for deeply ingrained insecurities . Such childhood insecurities remain with us as we grow up and become a part of society. Often, a broken and troubled part.
The world around us is full of stories of such troubles. The beautiful song I am sharing here speaks so well of such strife and also of the sincere desires of the hearts to overcome. It contains some very good lessons on the necessary ingredient of forgiveness and sacrifice of pride to save relationships in danger.

Sadly, forgiveness and the desired happy endings do not always happen. But, having observed that, I also consider another truth. The mindset that desires change and which is set to learn to forgive and begin anew is a large step in the right direction. I am convinced this gets God's attention.
Character flaws in human beings are a natural part of life and society is affected greatly but the inability of men to deal with these heart issues. Just as in the home and family unit, right relationships are vital to good success. I think all would agree that good character undergirds society. As i think on this, I wonder,... Are we as individuals keeping our learning priorities in right order? Do we save our best behavior for friends and employers, not realizing that kindness and our "best behavior" is what all our loved ones, and all men, hunger for and deserve? Are we devoting our learning skills mostly to the pursuit of excelling in reading, writing, and arithmetic and even responsible civic duties? Agreeably, these are some basic necessities for life. However, we can all be found guilty of taking too lightly a right education in stable relationships and matters of the heart. A high Intellect often is considered much more admirable than good character and integrity in our relationships.
Proverbs 4:23
Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
While it is true that we cannot change the world, it is also true that we can work to change our own world. If we will take care to learn and to apply God's spiritual laws of love and forgiveness to our relationships we can guard our lives from hurtful failure.
Luke 17:3
Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.
Titus 2:4-8
That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.
Colossians 3:19
Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.
Forgiveness and mercy are powerful forces for good. These gifts from God possess the power to re-create the atmosphere we live in. May we seek to set our hearts in new directions and learn to create love and a greater measure of peace wherever we are placed. May we be found worthy of God's desired happy ending in our relationships in life, and look forward to eternal life in him through our desire to learn how to love our fellow man, and to trust and obey. our heavenly Father.
