Loves Me, Loves Me Not

Christian Author Writer Does anyone else remember the games we played as children to find out if we were really loved, or not? I remember this from very early childhood, and was reminded of it today. We would pick a flower, a daisy, or similiar one, with petals, and pull off one petal, saying "He loves me", and then another petal, saying "He loves me not" until all the petals were gone. Whatever we ended up saying as the last petal fell was the conclusion to the matter. We were either loved, or we were not loved.

The memory of this childhood game has served to remind me of the way all men, young and old, have to deal with their thought life as they try to establish relationships with other God and with other human beings.

I've thought so often on the insecurities we face daily as human beings in need of love and acceptance. This dilemna does not apply only to romantic love, although it is what I recall that the object of the game was. It is a struggle that is common to all human beings. It is human nature to desire good relationships with others, and it is sometimes difficult to achieve in reality. It begins in earnest in young children who are trying to adjust to a new way of life as they leave the family group to start school and adjust to finding friends and establishing new friendships. .And it is true in all basic life situations as we seek to live around our peers in peace, throughout our lifetimes. In reality, there are many misconceptions about what one must act like, look like, live in or own in order to qualify for acceptance. If we do not live up to many preconceived notions of men, we are not loved, but we are rejected. It is also sad, but true, that many times, the lonely and insecure are so desperate for the acceptance of friends they do things which corrupt true and righteous love and integrity.

What is the solution to the constant war in the soul to find and enjoy true love and friendship? I do a lot of meditating on God's people and on people who don't know God, having lived in both of these places in my lifetime. I think on experiences of life as I walked in spiritual darkness, and on now, as I walk with the ever increasing light of the Lord and his truth. I have found that there are answers in his word to all the questions I was asking in my days of darkness, and I love to try to impart wisdom to others who are seeking higher counsel about life and it's issues.

I have, and I still am, learning some things. That God created love, and his deep desire is that all men treat their fellow human beings with kindness and respect. He does not command agreement with all the ways of our peers, but respect is expected, as much as is possible. I have learned that there is an enemy, the devil, who seeks to pervert and to destroy thoughts of real love and kindnesses throughout all mankind.

I have learned that God gave his son as an offering for the sins of men which cause us to be subject to the destroying work of deep deceptions from the darkness in the spiritual realm. That only when we are taught the truth about God's passionate love for all men and learn how to become rooted and grounded in our confidence in his love can we enjoy peaceful and productive relationships with people he chooses to place in our lives.

Satan will fight hard to get us to play the "He loves me, he loves me not" game as we yield our whole hearts and lives to getting established in the security of God's perfect love. God's love is "Yes, and Amen" to all who return his love back to him. There is a battle to be fought on the way to that place of security, but the end result is well worth whatever the fight requires. We cannot miss when God is on our side!

I pray you would quickly set your feet on that path into good and loving relationships, both platonic and romantic, by determining in your heart to delight yourself first in the Lord, who is the source of all love and all good things. He is our security, and he holds the heart of every man in his hand. He will walk us through the valleys of trials and mistakes made through inmature choices and will surround his faithful sons and daughters with secure and right relationships. There is a joy in the journey!

John 11:40
Jesus said unto her, Said I not unto you, that, if you would believe, you would see the glory of God?

Surrender your all to him and to all of his trainings and disciplines. He is forever for our good. He loves you! He loves you! He loves you!

Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
