A Froward Mouth

“I like you just the way you are.” is a phrase coined by a famous children’s entertainer on TV. It sounds so loving and kind, but this statement is not from God,. It is from a froward mouth.
Froward means difficult to deal with: stubbornly disobedient or contrary
Prov: 4:24: Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.
Prov: 8:13: The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.
Why is that statement froward? Because it’s the Bible that has the words of eternal life--the words that give true hope, edification, and comfort and it never talks that way. You will not find God, anywhere in the Bible telling anyone, “I like you just the way you are.” He says, All flesh is grass--their beauty passes away. The heart is deceitful above all things. All we like sheep have gone astray. None is righteous. No not one.”
God gave His Son to die in our place so that we can saved by being recreated in the image of His Son. A kernel or corn of wheat must die in order to produce more corn. Jn: 12:24 Jesus had to die so that we can be made into what we ought to be and you say, “I like you just the way you are. ???
That phrase is used to make people feel accepted. The Bible says we are accepted in the beloved. Eph: 1:6 We are not acceptable to God until we are in Christ. So to think you are doing a kind thing telling people they are acceptable no matter how much baggage they have is contrary to the Bible and contrary to God who is love and life.
Why does this issue warrant a whole article about it? Because there will be no permanent or substantial healing, for the church or the individual, until we talk like God talks--until we teach and minister as the Bible teaches and ministers.
The Bible is the balance. The Bible reveals the Truth. When the teachers magnify some of it and diminish some of it, the church becomes unbalanced and walks in error instead of in the Truth. It’s the Truth that will set people free, the Truth that will heal people, the Truth that will bond Christians to the Lord to the extent needed in order for them to trust and obey.
