As you go forward on your Christian journey do you have times of wonderings and weariness? I believe if we would be honest with one another we would all confess that, yes, we do. I would like to endeavor to share with you some encouragement to persevere and walk through these difficult days. Although we all know that we are taught that these times will come, It seems to me that if we can better understand God’s purposes we can do better at defeating doubts that might arise during those troubling times. I offer a lesson from scripture and song about trust and endurance during the desert seasons we walk through. The overcomer learns to practice attitudes of gratitude for past seasons of victory and remain thankful as we walk out our faith through wildernesses.
There is light to be found in lessons from Israel's wilderness journey: God guards us faithfully as we go through times of discipline and training in righteousness. He brings us through and out in victory with rejoicing!
Exodus 15:15-27
A time of discomfort and testing in desert places
Exo. 15:22
So Moses brought Israel from the Red sea, and they went out into the wilderness of Shur; and they went three days in the wilderness, and found no water.
Hard places give opportunity for God to show his glory. Bitter waters are healed
Verse 23
And when they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, for they were bitter: therefore the name of it was called Marah. 24 And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink? 25 And he cried unto the Lord; and the Lord shewed him a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet:
Shady oasis places with plenty of Cool, Clear Waters
Ex. 15:27 And they came to Elim, where were twelve wells of water, and threescore and ten palm trees: and they encamped there by the waters.
Isaiah 35:6
Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert.
Throughout scripture as God’s people travel along with him we see a patterns of celebration, joyful singing and dancing, vows of obedience, seasons of testing, healing of bitterness, deliverance and breakthrough to the fresh and living waters of life. From one faith and one glory into the next we experience new moves of the spirit bringing us into the better places as we press on with the Lord.
Perhaps you have not yet experienced such a great manifest miracle as God parting the Red sea, but the principle of submission with heartfelt praise and worship is relevant in all seasons we go through. We always know that God seeks our good and has brought us through other hard places. He will not fail those who place their trust in him. We worship the beauty and faithfulness of the Lord wherever we are and follow on to know him as he takes us into greater things. His purposes in us are eternal!
Revelation 7:14
Then he told me, "These are those who come from the great tribulation, and they've washed their robes, scrubbed them clean in the blood of the Lamb. That's why they're standing before God's Throne. They serve him day and night in his Temple. The One on the Throne will pitch his tent there for them: no more hunger, no more thirst, no more scorching heat. The Lamb on the Throne will shepherd them, will lead them to spring waters of Life. And God will wipe every last tear from their eyes."
Hold fast to Jesus and know he is taking you into a better place where there are refreshing healing waters…..
John 4:13-14
Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinks of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
