Christian Author Writer The phone rings and a little boy answers in a whisper: "Hello" The caller says: "Hi, is your Mommy there?.."Yes!".."Can I talk to her?".."No!".."Why not?".."She's busy.".."What about your Daddy, can I talk to him?".."No! He's busy.".."Well, is there anyone else there?".."My little sister.".."Is there anyone else there? Another adult?".."Uh, huh. The police.".."Can I talk to one of them?" "No, they're busy." "Is there anyone else there?" "Yes, the firemen.".."Can I talk to one of them?" "No, they're busy, too."...Caller:.. "Good heavens, your whole family's busy, the police and fire departments are there and they're busy! What's everybody doing?"..The little boy giggled and whispered: "They're searching for me."

Well, those three old timers, Papa Orb, John Wolf, and Uncle Roscoe kept harassing and embarrassing me until I finally got in the bucket. They lowered me down till I got to the bottom, when I stepped out of the bucket I was standing in about 3 feet of cold water, I yelled up to them I can't use this shovel because of this water I am already standing in, and it is nasty with sand all in it. It didn't seem to bother them in the least. Poppa Orb shouted down to me, "start dipping son we gotta get that out before we can start digging. That's not the "Living Waters" we need in order to survive" ( Poppa may make some of you angry, but some of the junk we have allowed into the church these days, is like that...It is not the Living Waters)....Uncle Roscoe said, "I Know it's probably pretty cool down there, but don't worry, when you start doing what you gotta do to start the flow, it will heat up pretty quick!" (Looking back to that statement, he didn't know he was prophesying to what lay ahead of me in the ministry)....Can you say Amen?

Then I thought to myself, what does he mean, WE?,....I'm the one by myself 40 feet down in this hole and it's cold down here. Lord you didn't call me to be a well digger did you?..I thought you called me to be a super star prophet or something like that!....Come on and say Amen! Dear friend when you set about doing the business of the Lord sometimes it's cold and lonely, and you may feel like your the only one doing anything!..Here's a flash for you!..You very well may be, where you are, for the moment.

Then the Holy Spirit spoke to my heart..."That is exactly what I called you to be and do. If you are to follow My lead and stay in the will of the Father, you will be cleaning out the wells of my people, and digging new wells all your life!.. It sometimes is dirty work, but someone has got to do it. That's exactly what you and the church have been called to do, God never promised you a rose garden nor a gravy train. Now start dipping and digging and stop feeling sorry for yourself. Way to many of the People of God are so caught up in pity parties, and themselves, with reasons and excuses and their own opinions, their own Mickey mouse problems...Most wouldn't know me or hear me even if I walked right up to them and shook their hand!...If you or the church want to be in the will of the Father you will be searching...and digging..for those that are searching ...those that are searching for the Water of the Fountain of Life.

Well, Glory to God!...Poppa can feel the preacher, Amen He is here!... Hope you won't hold it against me but I gotta stop and shout for a little bit!...will you say Amen?

We of the human race have always been seekers and searchers, haven't we? Since the beginning, we have tried to come to terms with the unknown, to understand it. We have struggled to comprehend the mysteries, to find comfortable relationship with that which is beyond ourselves. And this is true all the way from the discovery of flint to the exploration of the moon.

But we of the human race are not merely biological things, and our searching has not been limited to the material world. We are spiritual beings, and in spiritual matters also we have always been seekers and searchers - Moses going into the mountain, Isaiah going into the temple, John going into the wilderness, Paul going into Arabia, and anyone going into a sanctuary of worship.

Moreover, we of the Christian Faith understand that God is also a seeker and a searcher, that he has walked down the path to meet us, reaching for us. And we know that because, of what He did, and is doing through Christ and the Holy Spirit.....Amen?

On a farm or ranch you have to find a source of water before you build a house, especially in West Texas. The rancher has to select a good site, dig a deep man-made hole, and tap the well springs of underground water. Then enlarge the hole, build walls around it, and place a bucket at the top, so that he can draw water from the bottom. He called this completed system a well. In this well water system, there was always a problem if the well ran dry. 'If the well was not deep enough', then sometimes the well would run dry....Come on and preach with me! If the walls of the well were not built firmly enough, then sometimes the walls of the well would collapse, fill up the hole with junk and debris and you couldn't get to the water....I am talking bout Spiritual things here Good Neighbor!...If it did not rain hard enough, or long enough, or often enough, then the water in the ground would dry up, and the well would run dry. Most of us no longer live on farms, but we still drink water from a well. We build bigger wells. We call them reservoirs, and we place them on the outskirts of the city. But instead of buckets, we take pipes and connect them on one end to our homes, and on the other end to the well of water in the reservoir.

There are many who are bored, burned out, lonely and empty. Many people have tried to substitute the accumulation of things for good relationships, but no matter how much they get, something is still missing in life...It's the same in the spiritual realm in this hour beloved...
As we join the age-long caravan of the searchers. In worship we look up to God, we reach out to him, to touch hands anew with the reaching hand of God. So we are united in the fellowship of a common quest - together with all searching souls of all time and with one another in this hour. But for many today, even in the church, their pipe does not go down deep enough to draw living water and they feel lost and are thirsty.. Can you say Amen?

There is a story called, "Acres of Diamonds." It is about an African farmer who hears that some have made millions by discovering diamond mines. In his excitement, he sells his farm and uses the money to travel all across the continent of Africa in search of diamonds. But the former farmer never finds his fortune, and he dies as a poverty-stricken, heart-broken man. But it just so happens that the fellow who purchased the farm from the fortune seeker was one day crossing a stream on his newly acquired property when he found a big, beautiful rock. The fellow placed this strange rock on the fireplace mantel. Several weeks later a visitor noticed the rock and just about fell over. He recognized that this wasn't just an ordinary rock; it was a diamond. In fact, it happened to be one of the largest diamonds ever to be found. And the farm turned out to be one of the most productive diamond mines in all of Africa .Often times dear friend the very thing we are seeking for is right under our nose!...Amen?

A man seeking after truth came to a Cherokee Holy man for guidance..."Tell me, wise one, how did you become a holy man?"..."Two words." "And what are they, please?"..."Right choices."...
The seeker was fascinated. "How does one learn to choose rightly?"..."One word." said the Cherokee..
"One word! May I have it, please?" the seeker asked...."Growth."...The seeker was thrilled. "How does one grow?"..."Two words."..."What are they, pray tell?"....the answer is..."Wrong choices."

Poppa is well aware of some wrong choices we as individuals have made. I am also aware of wrong choices the church has made. But one thing I also Know, You don't throw the baby out with the bath water!...You gotta get in the bucket and go to work!... It is high time we as the church of God quit "Shooting our Wounded" and start breathing the breath of life back into them...Can you say Amen?..Get ourselves a bucket of that water of life, and start pouring it on them, and in them, until those that are in pain are Shouting from the roof tops of the Healing power of the Waters that are still flowing today!..Can You Say Amen?..The story I told you at the beginning of this part was about a little boy having fun. We are living in a time when God wants us to enjoy abundant life, and be blessed. But dear neighbor we must always keep in mind, there are folks that are suffering and hurting deep inside, maybe from wrong choices, or maybe because no one ever took the time to show them a more excellent way. There are folks that do not know how to live that kind of life. Some of those folks may be a member of your church, or someone on the job, maybe a family member. It could be that it hasn't rained for a long while where that child of God abides, and they are in need of a down pour of "Latter Rain" to bring a good refreshing and get that underground "River of Life" flowing so that the well is full to the top and overflowing...Can you say Amen?...I have even known some in the ministry that are struggling for survival. It is not a game to those Searching for truth or Searching for a drink of that Water. Water that brings Love, Joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance against such there is no law. These are things promised to and belong to those drinking from the Fountain of "Living Waters"..

Well dear friend, I stopped by today to tell you, God through His Holy Spirit is in the pipe extending business, if yours is not going deep enough He will add as much as is needed, If you don't have a well and need one dug, He will dig you one, If your well needs cleaning out, get in the bucket and lets get to work! If you are genuinely searching "The Lord's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither His ear heavy, that it cannot hear:"...O' Glory be to the name of our Living God!..... I am still talking about "Romancing the Stone".... ....continued..

God Bless You
Poppa
