Christian Author Writer Why do I say; we must put on the mind of Christ? Because . . .

Luke 6:40: 40: The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master.

Romans 12:2: 2: And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Romans 13:14: 14: But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

II Corinthians 5:15: And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.

Galatians 2:20: I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Galatians 3:27: For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

Galatians 4:19: My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you,

Ephesians 1:22-23: And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

Colossians 2:6: As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:

I John 4:17: Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.

*(Since these things are true, the necessity to think as Jesus does is evident. Jesus overcame by thinking this way and we will overcome the same way. The following scriptures teach us to think as Jesus thought. And to walk as Jesus walked.)

Matthew 3:2-3, 8: And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. 8: Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance: *(This is not something Jesus had to do, but it is the Christ-like mentality that we need in order to start down the right road.)

Matthew 4:4: But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. *(Jesus thought this way. We must think this way.)

Matthew 5:8: Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God! *(Our heart must be pure in order for us to walk close to God.)

Matthew 5:44: . . . Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.

Matthew 6:33-34: But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Matthew 10:37-39: He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it. *(Jesus made sure that He did not love anyone or anything more than He love3d His Father. And He refused the temptation to live the low life.)

Matthew 16:23: But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men. *(To win, we must partake not of the nature of men, but we must partake of the nature and quality of God. That is why you must renew your mind with these thoughts.)

Matthew 18:3: And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. *(Jesus was trusting, lowly, loving and forgiving.)

Matthew 22:37-39: Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Matthew 25:40: And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. *(This is how Jesus thinks.)

Mark 4:3-6, 16-20, 24: Hearken; Behold, there went out a sower to sow: And it came to pass, as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and the fowls of the air came and devoured it up. And some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth; and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of earth: But when the sun was up, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away. *(Jesus had deep roots.) Vs 16-20 And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness; And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word's sake, immediately they are offended. And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word, And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful. And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred. *(Jesus has a “sowing good seed” mentality.) Vs 24 And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given.*(Jesus was careful about what He listened to and how much of it He listened to.)

Mark 8:34-38: And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it. For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels. *(Jesus won by having this kind of mindset.)

Mark 9:23: Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. *(Jesus was always aware of this truth.)

Mark 11:23-24: For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. *(This is the kind of faith Jesus walked in.)

Mark 13:22-23, 33-35: For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect. But take ye heed: (be on your guard) behold, I have foretold you all things. Vs 33-35 Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is. For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch. Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning. *(Jesus lived this way--always mindful of the hidden dangers.)

Mark 14:38: Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak. *(Jesus kept awake, watched and prayed in
order to overcome the flesh.)

Luke 2:49: And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business? *(We need to have this same attitude.)

Luke 6:22-23: Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake. Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets. *(This is the minds Jesus used to handle persecution.)

Luke 6:46: And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? *(Jesus called God, Father and therefore He practiced what He told Him.)

Luke 8:21: And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of God, and do it. *(This reveals the mind of Christ about obedience. See: John 8:37-47)

Luke 8:25: And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him. *(Jesus expected them and us to trust in His veracity, that means His truthfulness and sincerity, and His integrity and therefore trust our life in His hands.)

Luke 11:9-10: And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. *(Jesus walked in this kind of faith.)

Luke 11:23: He that is not with me is against me: and he that gathereth not with me scattereth. *(The mind of Christ has no duplicity in it.)

Luke 12:22-23: And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on. The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment. *(Jesus trusted and obeyed God and expected His needs to be met.)

Luke 12:26: If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest? *(Jesus was practical and reasoned things out. But
He reasoned with godly knowledge not as the gentiles [godless] do.)

Luke 14:23: And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. *(Jesus has a sense of urgency about evangelism.)

Luke 14:26-28, 33: If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple. For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it? *(Jesus put God first in all matters.)

Vs 33 So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple. *(Jesus does not want people representing Him unless they have the same mindset or attitude that He did. He forsook all to follow God.)

Luke 16:13: No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. *(Jesus accomplished all that He did with this mindset. He always remembered that He was here to serve God--period.)

Luke 22:42: Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. *(The mind of Christ always says your will be done to God.)

Luke 22:46: And said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. *(The mind of Christ.)

John 3:5-6: Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. *(Jesus was born spiritually alive because He was born of a virgin with God, through the Holy Ghost, as His Father. We must be born of the Spirit through faith in Jesus and His work, in order to be spiritually alive thereby enabled to receive the mind of Christ and enjoy the kingdom of God.)

John 7:7: The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil. *( I included this verse because, in order to
think like and therefore act like Jesus, we must realize that those who love the truth will be hated unless they hide their light under a bushel. I’m trying to say, Don’t try so hard to be liked--just love people with the God kind of love.)

John 7:24: Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment. *(Amp. Bible says: Be honest in your judgment and do not decide at a glance- superficially and by appearance; but judge fairly and righteously. Jesus always bore this in mind.)

John 12:25-26: He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour. *(Jesus hated His life in this world--He did not let it influence Him. His mind was consumed with serving the Father.)

John 14:15: If ye love me, keep my commandments. *(He loved the Father that’s why He kept His commandments. He knew that that was the most powerful weapon against the enemy--to love the Father supremely.)

John 14:27: Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. *(Amp. V. Says: Do not let your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid- stop allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed, and do not permit yourselves to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled.)

John 15:7: If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. *(The mind of Christ knows that this is how it works.)
John 15:18-21: If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me. *(This is important. If we are Christ-like, we will affect the world the way He did and we will get the same reaction. I suspect that the Christ we perceive today isn’t entirely like the Christ of the Bible.

John 17:3: And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. *(The mind of Christ knows that this is eternal life. What Jesus was saying is that eternal life is wrapped up in living the God-kind of life. He is eternal life and He lives eternally because His choices are always the ones that promote life and not death.)

Acts 11:23: Who, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord. *( Jesus cleaved unto the Lord. If He had not, He wouldn’t have overcome.)

Acts 16:31: And they answered, Believe in and on the Lord Jesus Christ- that is, give yourself up to Him, take yourself out of your own keeping and entrust yourself into His keeping, and you will be saved; [and this applies both to] you and your household as well. Amp. V. *(That’s not the mind of Christ, but it’s what you have to do in order to operate in the mind of Christ.)

Acts 24:16: And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offence toward God, and toward men. *(This is an attitude of the mind of Christ.)

Romans 2:7: To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life: *(Jesus’ way.)

Romans 4:20-21: He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. *(That’s how Jesus lived while here too.)

Romans 6:2-13: God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin. Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him: Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. Vs 5: For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. *(This is how Jesus did it. He was born spiritual alive and we become spiritually alive, described in verse 5. He reckoned His members dead to sin and alive to God in unbroken fellowship. He practiced thinking this way in order to overcome sin.)

Romans 8:4, 14: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. So that the righteous and just requirements of the Law might be fully met in us, who live and move not in the ways of the flesh but in the ways of the Spirit- our lives governed not by the standards and according to the dictates of the flesh, but controlled by the (Holy) Spirit. Vs 14: For as many who are led by the Spirit of God are
the sons of God. *(Jesus was led by the Spirit.)

Romans 12:1-2: I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. *(Jesus refused to be conformed to this world. He was transformed by the renewing of His mind with the Word and ways of God. He presented His body a living sacrifice.)

Romans 14:8: For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's. *(Jesus thought this way.)

Romans 15:2-3: Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification. For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me. *(Jesus lived this way.)

I Corinthians 10:13-14: There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted
above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry. *(With the mind of Christ we will overcome temptation because we worship God only.)

I Corinthians 10:21: Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils. *(One of Jesus primary thoughts was to be pure unto the Lord.)

I Corinthians 10:24: Let no man seek his own, but every man another's wealth [good and advantage and profit, but rather let him seek the welfare of his neighbor] each one of the other. *(Only by Jesus’ Spirit will most people be able to live this way.)

I Corinthians 10:31: Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. *(This was Jesus’ attitude at all times.)

I Corinthians 15:48: As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.

I Corinthians 15:58: Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. *(Jesus determined to live this way.)

II Corinthians 4:16-18: For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. *(This is another insight into the mind of Christ.)

II Corinthians 5:7: For we walk by faith, not by sight: *(Jesus’ way.)

II Corinthians 6:14-7:1: Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
people. *(Jesus lived this way. In order to overcome, we have to live this way.)

II Corinthians 10:4-5: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; *(Jesus lived this way.)

II Corinthians 11:3: But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. *(Jesus practiced wholehearted and sincere and pure devotion towards God, His Father.)

Galatians 5:16: This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. *(You guessed it--this is how Jesus walked.)

Galatians 6:8: For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. *(Jesus always sowed to the Spirit.)

Ephesians 4:22: That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; *(And put on the mind of Christ. You have to put off as well as put on.)

Ephesians 6:11-12: Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. *(Jesus always wore the whole armor of God and He knew who He was wrestling with.)

Philippians 2:3-10: Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; *(There you have it--Jesus walked meek and lowly.)

Philippians 2:12-13: Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. *(Jesus lived this way. this is the winning way.)

Philippians 3:8: Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, *(Jesus had this kind of dedication to The Father.)

Philippians 4:4-8: Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. *(Yep! Jesus did this.)

Colossians 1:10-11: That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;

Colossians 2:6: As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:

Colossians 2:9-10: For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: *(This one is for confirmation and encouragement.)

Colossians 3:17: And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

II Timothy 2:3-4: Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. *(Jesus’s attitude.)

Hebrews 1:9: Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. *(This verse is talking about Jesus. Remember we are to think like Jesus does. Therefore we practice delighting in righteousness.)

Hebrews 3:14: For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end; *(Jesus had to hold fast. Believe it or not, the carnal nature caused Him trouble, too.)

Hebrew 4:10: For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. *(Jesus abided in God’s rest.)

Hebrews 5:7: Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared; *(This is how He did it. He prayed earnestly and with tears that God wouldn’t let Him fall. He treasured God presence more than anything else He had.)

Hebrews 7:11: If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron. *(Notice that perfection, for us, is perfect fellowship with the Father. Jesus won by maintaining a perfect fellowship with His Father.)

Hebrews 8:10: For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: *(Jesus had God’s laws imprinted upon His mind and He bore in mind at all times that God was His God.)

Hebrews 12:1-3: Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth
so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds. *(Jesus did not allow Himself to get weighted down with any self-interest that would hold Him back. He wouldn’t entertain the temptation to faint either. We can stay tuned, too, if we will keep our priorities straight and when tempted to faint, consider Jesus and what He endured.)

Hebrews 12:7: If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? *(Hebrews 2:9-11 tells us that Jesus endured severe discipline in order to be perfected for His mission. We, too, must endure whatever discipline God deems good for us without grumbling.)

Hebrews 13:13-14: Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach. For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come.

James 1:6: James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting. My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. *(Jesus always walked by faith, never wavering. He had to overcome the temptation to waver too. He had His mind stayed on God.)

James 1:12: Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. *(Jesus stood the test because of His great love for His Father.)

James 1:21-22: Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

James 4:4: Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. *(Being a friend of publicans and sinners is not the same as being a friend of the world. A friend of the world receives and submits to its rules and ways which are carnal. Remember Romans 8:7: the carnal mind is at enmity with God and cannot obey Him. Jesus played by God’s rules. Jesus walked in God’s ways no matter what the cost.)

James 4:8: Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. *(Having divided interests is spiritual adultery. Jesus was single-minded on serving the Father.)

I Peter 1:13-14: Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: *(Jesus lived as an obedient Son of God.)

I John 3:22-24: And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and
do those things that are pleasing in his sight. And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us. *(Jesus practiced pleasing God and kept His commandments and has His prayers answered because God’s Spirit lived in Him. He has given us His Spirit so that we can live this way and win.)

I John 5:4: For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. *(Jesus was born of God, that’s how He overcame. We are born of God and we are destined to put on the Lord Jesus Christ and be victorious over the world.)

I John 5:11-12: And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

Revelation 3:10: Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. *(Jesus guarded and kept God’s word. If you want to be raptured out before the wrath comes, you will have to do the same.)

Revelation 5:5: And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof. *(I told you He had to overcome.)

Warnings or reminders:

Revelation 12:11: And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

Revelation 16:15: Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.

Revelation 19:10: And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

Revelation 22:12: And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
