Chicken Little likes to walk in the woods. She likes to look at the trees. She likes to smell the flowers. She likes to listen to the birds singing. She just really loves to enjoy the creation of God and all the good things He has bestowed upon the earth for us.
One day while she is walking an acorn falls from a tree, and hits the top of her little head. My, oh, my, the sky is falling. I must run and tell the King about it, - says Chicken Little and begins to run. She runs and runs. By and by she meets Henny Penny, Cocky Locky, Ducky Doddles, Goosey Lucy, Turkey Lurkey and Gander Pander. Not all at once, but as she ran and met each one she told them the same story, the sky is falling, the sky is falling. Where are you going? - asks each one. Oh, the sky is falling and I am going to tell the King about it. How do you know it? - asks Henny Penny.
It hit me on the head, so I know it must be so, - says Chicken Little. Let us go with you! - says Henny Penny. - Run, run.
So they all began to run and run until they met Foxey Loxey. Where are you going? - asks Foxey Loxey. The sky is falling, - says Chicken Little. - We are going to the King to tell him about it. How do you know that?- Duckey doodles says- It hit Chicken Little on the head, - May I come with you? Do you know where he lives? - asks the fox. I do, - says Foxey Loxey. - Come with me and I can show you the way. I know a shortcut. Come on, - says Goosey Lucy. So all of them run on and on and Foxey Loxey was leading the way! He walks on and on until he comes to his den.
Come right in, - says Foxey Loxey. They all go in, but they never, never come out again.
That's one rendition of the story but Poppa likes the one that calls Chicken Little, Chicken Lickin, cause that's what Foxey Loxey had in mind. The way my story goes is like this. Just as they started into his den the Kings dogs got on the trail of Foxy Loxey, he heard them baying and barking so he ran away never to be seen again, and the Kings dogs took them all to see the King. The King told them not to worry because he had just what they need, and he gave them each an umbrella for a covering.
After that day Chicken Little and her friends walked through the woods with an umbrella. Amen? These days she is still walking, enjoying her life knowing the Acorn is gonna fall, but she has the umbrella for a covering over her little head.
Oh' My! Poppa wanna do some Hardshell preachin here!...In Matthew 24 Jesus told us what things must come to pass in these latter days and I think I need not have to talk very long to convince you we are seeing the pace moving at a very fast clip in the hour in which we live. Reading my bible is like reading the newspaper these days, can you say Amen?.....Luke 19:13 Jesus told us to "Occupy till I come" The Bible told me "His Banner over me is Love" Amen!...Me-thinks you can't get a better umbrella than that. Amen? He said, "He will supply all of my needs, according to His riches in Glory" Amen!
Someone told me about a friend giving him a pair of canaries. They were both fine singers, the quality as well as the range of their notes being extraordinary; but the distinguishing characteristic of these songsters was that they always sang at night.
The Lord has many canaries like that. It is the distinguishing characteristic of the genuine Christian that, like Paul and Silas in the dungeon at Philippi, he is able to sing songs of hope, courage, and victory in the darkest night of trial. These songs in the night are the most effective testimony the Christian ever gives to the worth of his Christianity. Thank God that we can find strength from the joy that the Lord can give us in our trials.
If you want to keep your focus on your finish, then be submissive and controlled by the Spirit of God who indwells you.
Ephesians 5:18—And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
The filling or control of the Holy Spirit of your life will do more for you in being faithful and happy during the upheaval of these days than anything else. Yield to His leading each day. Submit to His guidance. If you let Him pilot your life, He will not steer you in the wrong direction. The Holy Spirit will give you what you need to keep your focus on your finish.
The Holy Spirit is the flame of our passion and zeal. Warmed like a dove fledging its downy nest, the Holy Spirit warms our heart like sunbeams on an October morning. His fragrance is like the breath of flowers blooming on a summer day. You cannot see Him, but you know His presence is near.
His whisper in our soul is gentle like morning light. He offers calming assurance and strength that are as sweet as a fresh spring to a weary wanderer in a barren wilderness. His direction is clear, hopeful, and beautiful like sunbeams that peak through puffy, pewter clouds after a summer storm.
Yet, His power should not be underestimated. Like gale winds from a rolling sea that shake and fill homes with its breath, I have seen the Spirit of God invade and sweep a church service in the same powerful manner, rattling the cages of men's hearts and moving them to brokenness and repentance. Beloved, when we finally become conscious and aware of the presence of God and His holiness, it is then we will enjoy revival in our own life, home, and church.
What a valuable friend is He, who is frequently ignored, snubbed, spurned, or shunned by those believers He indwells. Yet, the Spirit of God is patient with us like a gentle stream that flows day by day through rolling hills and deep valleys. Though grieved and quenched, He still gently pleads with us to yield to His direction and His summons for fellowship with Him. He is our best friend, He is the key to our success at focusing and finishing what God leads us to do. Fall in love with Jesus Christ all over again, and we will see revival in our own lives. How is your relationship with the Spirit of God? Are you focused on your finish? If you do what Poppa is talking about here you won't run around with a long face whining about how bad things are, and worrying about the end times. Lets not be chicken lickin Christians. Open up your umbrella of the love of God and use it for a cover!

God Bless You
