Wani, Spirit Heart

Christian Author Writer I read a true story about President Roosevelt; the article said he once grew tired of the smiling superficiality that accompanied many White House receptions. One particular evening, he decided to see whether or not anyone was actually attentive and paid attention to what he said. As he shook hands with each guest filing through the line, he smiled real big and said, "I murdered my grandmother this morning." No one even noticed. They just gave the usual protocol, "How lovely!" or "Keep up the good work."...I thought, that kinda reminds me of a lot of Christians. However, One foreign diplomat was paying attention and When FDR said it to him, the diplomat tactfully commented, "I'm sure she had it coming to her."

Jesus' half-brother, James, had trouble paying attention to Jesus' message (John 7:5). Perhaps that's why James later wrote, "Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath". James 1:19...Beloved I ask you to be swift to hear what I have to say in this letter!

My son-in-law is a Wildlife Biologist and he was telling me about a fish I didn't know exists, it is called a Hagfish.
The hagfish is a unique predator. It is long and slender like a snake, but it's a fish. It ties itself into a knot in order to be a killer. This ugly, slimy, eel-like creature twists itself into a loop as it attracts another fish. It will then plunge its teeth into one of the gills of a fish as they approach. When it is firmly attached, the tenacious hagfish begins a twisting action with the knot in its body, burrowing deeper into its prey until it is completely inside the other fish. It then eats the fish from the inside until all that is left is nothing but skin and bones.

When he told me of this creature, the Holy Spirit quickened me and said, Satan is like a hagfish he also attacks from the inside. He attacks the Heart of God's people; he attacks the Heart of the Church of the Living God. He targets our heart to destroy us. If we give him ground in our heart, then he will build a stronghold or castle in our lives and he will suck the very life out of us as individuals and of the church, When this happens, we become self-centered, we struggle with bitterness, bickering, doubt, hate, lust, etc. and we begin to Grieve and Quench the Holy Spirit. This is why Paul warned us to not give him any ground...Proverbs 4:23 said, "Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life".

A young Baptist missionary came by to visit me yesterday, he has been to China, South and North America, Canada and Russia, He has settled for Russia and will be leaving in a couple of months to stay there until Jesus comes. He started our conversation by saying, "Poppa I know you are not a denominational man, I am Baptist because that's where I was saved, called to preach, and ordained, and these people will support me on the mission field. How do you feel about that?"...My answer to him was short and simple, "Go For It".

He continued..."I also know that you are a strong believer of the anointing of the Holy Spirit in the Christian walk, and especially for preachers and teachers of the Gospel."...I ask him, "Since you know all that what do you want of me?"...He said "I want your blessing and your advice for me" The following was and shall remain my blessing and advice, not only for that young missionary, but also for all of the people of God. I handed him my bible and told him to read out loud the following scripture. Ephesians chapter 3 verses 16-19.

"That He would grant you according, to the riches of His glory, that ye may be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inward man that ye being rooted and grounded in love may be strong to apprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, to know the love of Christ which passeth knowledge, that ye may be filled into all the fullness of God."

I said to him, "The most powerful thing on earth and known to man is inside of you, when you were born again the Holy Spirit came to live there, but it is entirely up to you how much of that power you release, and are controlled by. Hell chuckles when it sees defeated Christians, because hell knows what every Christian is really capable of, and trembles at the thought of the release of that power.

My friend John Wolf trained and raised horses; occasionally he would raise one that had an extreme amount of endurance and stamina. He had a black mare named "Wanigei Ganolvvsgv", which is Cherokee for "Soft Wind" he called her "Wani" for short. I ask him why this particular horse was like that. John's only explanation was, "She got a lot of Heart, I raised her from birth", he said, "Every hoss here has everything it takes to be just like this one, but the others have chosen to do just whatever it takes to get by, I didn't raise them." I knew I was in for one of the famous John Running Wolf lessons, so I said.. "Comeooon and talk to me my Brother"...

John said, "Let me show you something. You see that stud horse standing over there? He struts around here with his chest sticking out, his tail up in the air, flexing his muscles enjoying all the privileges of being a stallion and being fed oats everyday. However, when he was a youngster someone’s dog got after him and nipped him on his ankle, and ever since then, all he's gotta do is hear a coyote howl and he turns into a crème puff. All that muscle and he is nothing but a pansy, he don't have Heart!" John said, "I've known a bunch of Christians and preacher boys like that, Prissing around showing off and thumping their Bibles, but they are... "All show and no Go!"

"You see that chestnut mare over there? See how she's limping? There is not anything wrong with her. Now look over behind her and you'll see two younger ones doing the same thing! Those are her offspring, she raised them and they have watched her so much they think that is what your supposed to do in order to get attention! None of them have Heart"

"Now you see that Roan over yonder kicking his heels up chasing those chickens? I have been working with that rascal for two years and all he wants to do is play! Some of God's people are like that, they want to sing, dance, shout and have a good time but most wouldn't know the voice of the Holy Spirit if He was standing face to face with them. They don't know enough about God to fill up a thimble! They don't have Heart."

He said, "Every hoss on this place is beautiful, don't you agree?" I said, "Yes Sir" He said, "They are all horses, Don't you agree? I said,” Yes Sir" He said, "every one of them are of the best blood, and have all the potential of being just like this high stepping mare you like so much. They are not unlike a lot of Christians I have met, There is no doubt they are Christians and of the best Blood, you just cannot get better Blood than the Lord Jesus Christ! "

"However, everyone of them have a different personality, some always have excuses, fighting some Mickey Mouse battle they have blown out of proportion. Or they were not brought up right and are like loose cannons, flopping all over the place, dangerous and ready to explode at any given moment." John said he would much rather get them from birth, the un-training is next to impossible!

John said, "Follow me and watch", we started walking towards the barn and the black was right behind us, suddenly without warning, stopping, looking back, or raising his voice, John said, "Wani stop" the black stopped in her tracks! We walked about 50 yards and he said "Wani come here" she came to where we were standing and stopped, we started walking again but the black stayed, John said, "Wani follow me" and she followed, staying right behind us listening for the voice of her master. It was clear they had become one Spirit! I asked John what did he think caused her to be that way? He said, "She has a 'Spirit Heart' deep inside her, and she has Heart for me"
John said, "The others will be just like Wani when I finish them. They will grow to love me and have confidence in me as she does. For I will remove the heart of flesh and replace it with a 'Spirit Heart'."

True spirituality is the measure of love of God shed abroad in the heart, all the spirituals rest upon and have their rise out of Love. Not power, or knowledge, or different gifts, these are not the first things, the first thing is love. That leads to the increase of God. There are other things that lead to increase but love is first and basic to all other, and that beloved is a thing of the Heart!

A few years ago, I started having blackouts. I could be talking to you, preaching or driving and without warning I would blackout, I was in the hospital time after time, wore monitors 24 hours at a time and the Docs. could never find anything wrong. As a result I stopped driving, and limited my activities to writing and working with seniors. Finally I was sitting in the doctor’s office in Austin, Texas and while the nurse was taking my vitals I blacked out, and had a stroke. The short of it is, they rushed me across the street to the hospital, stuck a pacemaker in my chest and ran wires to my heart. A valve wasn't opening to let the blood flow throughout my body. They said this had been going on for years and damaged my kidneys and liver. All because of a malfunctioning valve. Beloved if you have any part of the Holy Spirit in you, you know where Poppa is going with this! In the life of the Christian the Holy Spirit is the Pacemaker that opens the valve that supplies and applies the Blood of Jesus Christ for all the vital organs in each one of us, and also to the Body of the Church of Jesus Christ. They told me I would have to return and let them change the battery in the thing from time to time, WHEW! Oh' Glory to God! Poppa sure nuff feels like preaching for a while. That is exactly what we as Christians must do dear neighbor! Go to Doctor Holy Ghost and get a recharge from time to time! Can you say Amen?

While I was recuperating the Holy Spirit whispered. I want to lead and guide my sheep and my church and protect their spiritual heart, if they will only permit me to do so. "Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life." If we pollute that wellspring, the infection will spread. The Bible warns us to avoid a double heart (Ps. 12:2), a hard heart (Prov. 28:14), a proud heart (21:4), an unbelieving heart (Heb. 3:12), a cold heart (Matt. 24:12), and an unclean heart (Ps. 51:10). "Search me, O God, and know my heart" (139:23).

Then finally, we must rely upon the Holy Spirit for power, for guidance and for strength in the innermost part of us. Because we need Him more than ever to set our hearts on fire for our Lord and our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Unless we walk in the Spirit we shall never be able to guard and protect and keep our heart tender toward the Lord.
The battle for the heart is a constant battle that every Christian faces. It is a never-ending conflict. Guard your heart more than anything else, because the source of your life flows from it.

The young missionary/preacher asked me to pray with him before he left. As we began to pray the peace of the Holy Spirit fell upon that man, and he began to weep as Father opened up the windows of heaven and poured him out the Blessing of God. I know he is going to be alright, because he has "Heart" and once we have "Tasted of the Lord" we will continue to come back to sup at the Masters table. "Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life". Amen!

God Bless You
Poppa
