Christian Author Writer The perfect law of liberty--love your neighbor as yourself.

We are in bondage to the flesh--we want to be good and have God’s approval, but we also strongly want to serve and satisfy self. All the liar has to do is make it look good, or sound good, or feel good, or all three and we are sold. But the lie binds us and blinds us and we stumble and grope and fall into snares and pits.

Only love can deliver you from selfishness. If you walk in love toward God, toward yourself, and toward others, you will be able to see or discern the truth. The truth is real. It gives freedom and deliverance because it will enable you to see where you are going and you will be able to avoid the snares. You will have confidence to go farther, and do more.

Post-modern thinking has it that there is no absolute truth. Jesus says in Jn: 8:31-32: Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32: And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Who are you going to believe? Modern thinkers or Jesus Christ the Son of God and Savior of the world?

The liar--the devil is darkness. He fools people by masquerading an angel of light and influencing what they see, feel, and think, convincing them that they can see clearly and telling them what they see. He can do this because the victim has been conditioned by his environment and because the victim’s desires run contrary to truth.

Jn: 3:20 says: For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

Eph: 5:13: But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.

The devil tells people what is out there and because they are blind, they believe him. He proves his lies by basing his new lie on the lies the person has already bought. This is why the lies going around seem so right and true--it is because people do not know the truth that will set them free, they only know half truths and seeming truths that are not truths.

Another tactic the devil uses to alter the truth is to put exceptions on the truths that the person already knows. These exceptions always lead to bondage for the one who buys the lie and many times for others as well.

For example an abortion for a teenager who wants to finish high school and have a career seems like a good place to put an exception on the “Thou shall not kill” truth. But the truth is in choosing to have an abortion the person is putting self first, is committing a sin, and is murdering a baby.

Often the one who makes the choice to abort their baby suffers trauma in their soul that never lets them forgive themselves and they go into the bondage to suppressed guilt. They have it done to escape hardship and inconvenience and they end up with blood on their hands and a ruined life.

How about this one--Abraham has to live in Egypt and is afraid that the king will covet his wife and kill him to get her, so he has them both lie although there is “Thou shall not bear false witness.” He put an exception on it because his circumstances seemed to call for it. I know a lot of Christians do the same thing. I asked God why He let His godly man (Abraham) do that. That is called, “situation ethics” and it is very popular today. God pointed out that that was Old Testament and is not an excuse for Christians to do it because Christians have repented of doing things their way and because they have Jesus and that means they have more power to resist sin and more power working on their behalf.

The liberty obtained by the perfect law of liberty is to walk by the Spirit of love in all matters and at all times. There is no room for selfishness in walking in love. Love always does what is right and therefore love never leads to bondage. Jesus has made it possible for all of us to live free from sin and death. PTL
