Overcoming Struggles
- Fiction No
I heard someone saying how this other person needs to surrender his problems into God’s hands and I was shocked. The person talking was one whom I had spent years begging God to bring him to surrender unto God--bring him into the kingdom of God. I looked to God for the answer as to how this person could be piously talking about surrender and then I understood--he had never surrendered his life or his will to God, but in circumstances that he couldn’t handle or didn’t want to deal with, he would do what he called surrendering it to God--meaning he washed his hands of any responsibility or blame for it and shoved it off on God.
So if a person does not surrender all their life and control into God’s hands and then trust and OBEY Him and if they don’t examine themselves often because the heart can be deceitful due to our carnal nature still having an affect on us, they will be deceived into thinking they are surrendering to God when they shove their problems--that usually arise from their running their own affairs and interpreting the Bible by their own situation ethics that they think is the result of them being led by the Spirit--off on Him.
It is true that the informed Christian practices the Bible teaching to reckon your carnal nature crucified, therefore I want to explain what I meant by the carnal nature being a major part of us. I for one find that if I am not consciously walking by the spirit, my carnal nature often cause reactions that I would not have intelligently chosen. That’s what I mean by it having an affect on our Christian thinking. I have to consciously reckon it crucified or else it tries to influence my reactions and decisions.
A person can be convinced they are a Christian and be convinced they are living right and still be deceived. To avoid having a deceitful heart, thus to avoid being deceived--a person must receive Jesus into their heart and do the above surrendering, trusting, obeying and examining.
If you want to be safe from all harm, from the enemy’s wiles, from wrong choices and their consequences, then you must live the new life in Christ--that’s a life that lives to please God, knowing that if they are pleasing God, all is well with their soul, with their present, and with their future.
Ref:
Jer:17:9: The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
Rom: 6:3-11: Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? 4: Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. 5: For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: 6: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. 7: For he that is dead is freed from sin. 8: Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him: 9: Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. 10: For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. 11: Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Rom: 8:3-14: For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: 4: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
5: For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6: For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7: Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8: So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. 9: But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. 10: And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11: But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. 12: Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. 13: For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. 14: For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
