A popular phrase right now is; “Oh, lighten up.” In fact many people including Christians think that a person should lighten up. If lighten up means—don’t be so serious or don’t take life so serious or joke and fool around a little—I don’t identify with it. I get my instruction from the Word of God and I am putting many of them in this article to make sure Christians don’t lighten up in any way that would put them in a vulnerable place or that would cause them to be a bad example to others. Make sure your ‘lighten up’ does not lead you to behave as the world does.
Ex: 15:26: And said, If thou wilt diligently (1 persevering and careful in work; 2 industrious done with careful, steady effort; painstaking) hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.
Deut: 4:9: Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons' sons;
