Dan: 8:23-27: And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up. 24: And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people. 25: And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand. 26: And the vision of the evening and the morning which was told is true: wherefore shut thou up the vision; for it shall be for many days. 27: And I Daniel fainted, and was sick certain days; afterward I rose up, and did the king's business; and I was astonished at the vision, but none understood it.
(Some may argue that it isn’t clear that this is about the man of lawlessness, but I say it is clear because of vs. 23--latter times and transgressor come to fullness.
Take note of the clues:
- A lot of power.
- He didn’t earn the power.
- He will make decisions that are destructive and have good success at doing it.
- He will make decisions that will bind the Holy people.
- Through his policies he will craft interpreted trickery--deception, dupery, fraud to succeed.
- He will get puffed up and he will capture many through an illusion of peace.
- He stands up against Jesus, which will be his demise.)
Dan 9: 25-27: Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. 26: And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. 27: And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
- (It’s for today--it says the Messiah. I believe the flood spoken of here is a flood of lies such as in Isa: 59: 19 . . . When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him. With these lies the enemy will undermine the church. Till the end of the war between Christ and the anti-Christ there will be desolations. Refer to Jer: 11:30-35
- He will bring about the signing of the peace treaty that will signify only seven years are left. Until Jesus comes to reign.
- In this peace treaty there will be an agreement to muffle Christians and Jews.
- Iniquity will abound until God pours out His wrath.)
Dan:11:21-24: And in his estate shall stand up a vile person, to whom they shall not give the honour of the kingdom: but he shall come in peaceably, and obtain the kingdom by flatteries. 22: And with the arms of a flood shall they be overflown from before him, and shall be broken; yea, also the prince of the covenant. 23: And after the league made with him he shall work deceitfully: for he shall come up, and shall become strong with a small people. 24: He shall enter peaceably even upon the fattest places of the province; and he shall do that which his fathers have not done, nor his fathers' fathers; he shall scatter among them the prey, and spoil, and riches: yea, and he shall forecast his devices against the strong holds, even for a time.
- (He is a vile person. This means he looks good, but he has diabolical intentions.
- He doesn’t really qualify to reign, but he obtains the kingdom by flatteries. That is saying what the people want to hear.
- He will work deceitfully. This means he will not be what he claims to be and he will not do what he claimed he would do.
- He gets the kingdom with the help of a small number of very influential people.
- He will spread the wealth around.
- He shall implement plans to break through the Christian strongholds.)
Dan: 11:36-39: And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done.
37: Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all. 38: But in his estate shall he honour the God of forces: and a god whom his fathers knew not shall he honour with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things. 39: Thus shall he do in the most strong holds with a strange god, whom he shall acknowledge and increase with glory: and he shall cause them to rule over many, and shall divide the land for gain.
- (Not at first, but at a time when he thinks he is so powerful that he can’t be stopped, the man of lawlessness i.e. the anti-Christ will begin to openly do his thing. One thing he will do is begin to tell lies and slur God and Jesus. Probably in the order of what Dan Brown is doing.
- He will make his own rules and exult himself.
- It sounds to me like he will be promoting evolution--the god of forces. Or maybe it is Islam. If it’s evolution the riches will go to fight environmental issues and if its Islam it will go to win the holy war.)
Jn:7:27: Howbeit we know this man whence he is: but when Christ cometh, no man knoweth whence he is.
- (People will discuss where he might have come from.)
Lk:7:19: And John calling unto him two of his disciples sent them to Jesus, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another?
- (People will wonder if he is who he looks like or not.)
Jn: 5:43-44: I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his
own name, him ye will receive. 44: How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?
- (People will believe in him because they seek not the honour that comes from God. In other words he says what they want to hear, not what God wants to say.)
1Jn: 2:18-23: Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time. They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us. 20: But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things. 21: I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth. 22: Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.23: Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.
(This is where the man of lawlessness is known as the anti-Christ.
- (It is when he denies God and denies that Jesus is the Son of God come in the flesh.)
1 Jn:4:1-3: Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 2: Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 3: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
