Lessons On My Journeys

Christian Author Writer I made rows in the sand and planted seed that I had gathered from my journeys
and prayed for rain. The ground that I planted was dry and parched and was in need of water, but the rain did not come. And I remembered from one of my other journeys that there is a river, and it is not far from here. So I mused, what I need is a ditch from the river to bring the water to my garden, and I heard the words of the ancient one, faith without works is dead, so I began to dig.

I got real close to the river and came upon a very large rock that must be moved
in order to get the river to start its flow to my garden. I worked and worked, I dug and dug, I made a big hammer, and hammered and hammered until I was completely exhausted.

And then I began to get angry, I called out to my Father and said, "You, yes, you brought me to this dry barren place and left me here and said it was for my good! Well, I certainly don't see anything good about it!".

I was able to justify my anger by calling it "Righteous Indignation".

I am really disappointed with you. You have hurt my pride. After all, I am your child. You have let me dig and hammer until my hands are raw and bleeding and now I am so near but I can't get to the river because of this big boulder. I cannot go around it because of the mountains on each side of it, and I might mention, the mountains on which others are leaping, and skipping from peak to peak and singing the "Victory Song", where I used to be.

I am wondering why you brought me here. Is this what I am to be?

And I am so tired! So tired! I must rest awhile and I lay my self down to sleep.
Immediately I was swept away in the Spirit and I heard the voice of my Master.
There remains therefore, a rest to the people of God, so let us strive to enter into that rest. For he that is entered into that rest, has ceased from his own works.

And I can hear him softly say, "it is not fit for you to kick against my spur,
The harder you kick, the more I will use the spur." You got the "bits in your teeth" and ran with the ponies for a time, so I brought you here to perfect you and remind you of another day and what you were.

You have gained the Knowledge needed to dig the ditch, you have the Wisdom to know the seed that you planted must have water to bring forth fruit. Now hear my words, with all of your knowledge get wisdom and with all of your wisdom you must have Understanding.

And I cried out, "Master what do you mean? I do have understanding! I understand and I have enough sense to know that if if I don't get water to the seed it will not bring forth fruit. That's wisdom, knowledge and understanding. That's proof that I have it all. I just have to figure out how to move that big boulder, then I will have it finished."

And then I took my rest. When I awoke I was refreshed and my hands and my back didn't hurt so bad. I was full of energy and I returned to the rock. I pounded and pounded and it would not move, so I decided to sing to the rock. I strummed my harp. I made a joyful noise on the cymbals. I shook my tambourine. I danced around it, and still, the rock did not move.

In my frustration I decided that I would go to my garden and rest for a while. I just could not bear to look at that rock for now. "Out of sight out of mind."

So I built an Altar unto my Lord and began to pray, and I could feel a soft gentle breeze all around me. I knew that it is the Holy Spirit and he spoke to me and asked why I had built this altar. I said, "My Lord, I have something that has become a great Thorn In my flesh, and in spite of how hard I work on it I can't seem to over come it." My, My, how I do love these times of fellowship, when I am in the Spirit. Things have a way of seeming so much smaller when I am in His presence, and he spoke to me and said, "Tell me what you know about me." And I fell to my knees and cried out, "My Father, my God, my Lord, I know, that you are

Jehovah-Sabaoth the "Lord of Hosts"
Jehovah-Lord the "Great I Am"
Jehovah-Elohim the "Lord God"
Jehovah-Rohi the "Lord my Shepherd"
Jehovah-Shemmah the "Lord is There
Jehovah-Nissi the "Lord my Banner"
Jehovah-Tsidkenu the "Lord my Righteousness"
Jehovah-Mkaddesh the "Lord who Sanctifies
Jehovah-Shalom the "Lord my Peace"
Jehovah-Jireh the "Lord my Provider"
Jehovah-Rophe the "Lord my Healer"

And he spoke to me and said, "Do you not remember my words to you my child?
After a while I will visit you and perform my good word toward you. Seek the peace of My Kingdom, for in the peace thereof, shall you have peace. I know the thoughts that I think toward you, thoughts of peace. To give you an expected end and when you call upon me "I will hear you". And you will seek me and find me, when you search for me with all of your heart. And I will be found of you, and I will bring you "from this place" being confident that I have begun a good work in you and will perform it. And you will know the unsearchable riches of Christ Jesus and the "Mystery"of my Kingdom."

I cried out, "My Beloved my Master, the Lover of my soul, even if you slay me,
I will love you, O' that I might know you in all of your glory! You loved me
When I was unlovable, when I made my bed in hell and was unworthy you sent
Your Holy Spirit to seek me. You have brought me through so many trials and difficult times. You are a "wonderful Counselor", a "Mighty God", "Everlasting Father "Prince of Peace","Rose of Sharon", "the Lily of the valley". You my Lord are the Potter and I am the clay. Mold me into the man you want me to be and teach me to be guided by the Holy Spirit."

And once again he spoke to me and said, "I did not tell you to hammer and strike the rock. If you are to enter into the place that I have prepared for you, you must do exactly as my Spirit guides. All you have to do is speak to the rock in my name. Behold the Lord God will come with strong hand and his arm shall rule for him. Behold his reward is with him and his work before him. He will feed his flock like a shepherd. He will gather the lambs with his arm and carry them in his bosom and gently lead those that are with young. Fear not, for I am with you. Be not dismayed, I am your God, I will give you strength. I will help you with the right hand of my righteousness. When the poor and needy seek water and there is none, I the Lord will hear them. I the Lord God will not forsake them. I will open rivers in high places and fountains in the midst of the valleys. I will make the wilderness a pool of water and the dry land springs of water."

"Lift up your eyes on high and see that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, does not faint. Neither is he weary. He gives power to the faint, and to those that have no strength, he gives strength. When even the youths faint and grow weary, and the young men fall, they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings as Eagles. They shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint."

"Now therefore come, let us make a covenant, between you and I."
And I awoke out of my sleep and I knew that God was in this place, and I began to build a new altar. And I heard the voice of the ancient one.

Therefore when we build, let it be such work that our descendants will thank us for. And let us think, as we lay Stone upon Stone, that a time will come when these stones will be held Sacred because our hands have touched them.
And men will say as they look upon the labor and the wrought substance of them, "See! This, our Father did for us!".

And suddenly I heard the sound of water and I turned and beheld a stream that
Was flowing to my garden.

And I heard the Holy One say,

"Its not by power nor by might, but by my Spirit, saith, the Lord"
