Do you ever notice when you see a centerpiece on a dining table or coffee table that it can change the whole look of a room almost immediately? An elegant centerpiece set's an elegant atmosphere as well as a beautiful flower arrangement can light up a dreary room.
I believe this occurs because the centerpiece is exactly that - a centerpiece. It's located in the center of a table to make a statement, to be displayed and set apart for everyone who walks in that room to take notice. But take that centerpiece and put it on the table with a bunch of other “stuff” and that same centerpiece loses its luster.
It brings to mind the question; as Christians are we allowing Jesus to be our centerpiece? Are we putting Him out before us so others will take notice? Are we set apart for Jesus so that He can be glorified and magnified in us and through us as salt and light? Or are we being mixed in with the world of clutter where one could not tell the difference between us from another?
I can surely testify to this one important fact...when I allow Jesus to be my centerpiece - He becomes the center of my peace. He is glorified through me and in spite of me and I become that table that displays Him as the most beautiful part of me. Allow God to be your centerpiece and watch how He uses you to light up any room.
