God’s Abundant Supply

I prayed with my grandson, Andrew, before bedtime as I sometimes do. After we finished our prayer, I asked, “Do you want to see a picture of Jesus?” I pointed out the picture on the living room wall of Jesus holding a lamb in His arms. But Andrew, who was three at the time, wasn’t at all interested in the picture on the wall. He had seen it dozens of times before.
“Grandma, Jesus is in the bathroom,” he told me excitedly as he raced down the hall. Intrigued, I followed him. When I got to the bathroom, he pointed to a plaque on the wall. The plaque has flowers in one corner and Scripture from Philippians 4:19: “My God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” My daughter had just put up the plaque that weekend, and three-year-old Andrew recognized the name Jesus by himself.
I’ve known that verse for years, of course, but after that it took on new meaning. It was as if God had written it in bold red letters and underlined it so I wouldn’t miss it. In the following months, I had many needs, but I saw God supply them one by one in amazing ways. In fact, I started writing down the blessings and sharing the list with others. God supplied needs above and beyond what I could imagine, sometimes in dramatic ways so I would know it was His doing and not my own. That verse serves as a good reminder that God can meet all of my needs.
Thanks, Lord, that You know our needs and want to supply our needs. Thank you that no situation is too difficult for you. Help us to trust in You beyond what we can see. Amen.
