Managing God’s Blessings in the Morning

"You were taught with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness." Ephesians 4:22-24 (NIV 1984)
As the new school year approaches I'm making a bold commitment: No more crazy mama mornings. I would like our mornings to go better this year with less frustration, yelling, and chaos. I would like to think that each morning we will get up on time, eat breakfast, get ready, and walk out the door a few minutes early, so the drive to school will be a pleasure and not a yelling match or the silent treatment, that as a Mother we all understand too well.
But more than likely there will be a morning where everything runs array and the devil takes a stronghold by making us feel inadequate as Mothers and we are eaten up with guilt for the entire day due to something as minor as lost shoes. Lost shoes, not-so perfect hair, torn up homework, unfinished projects, tired children, and bad lunches to name a few morning issues, are simply part of the territory when you are the manager of God’s blessings in a child. We need to remind ourselves daily as the new school year begins of Psalm 12:3 “Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward.” Maybe if as Mothers we could get up at least ten minutes early each morning and spend time with the Lord as the new year starts, he will give us the strength, peace, and mercy to manage His blessings.
This is not going to be an easy task and I am certain that I will not be perfect, but I am excited to “put on my new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness,” Ephesians 4:22-24, and give it a try. If I fall short one morning, at least I have a God whose grace is sufficient and I will try again the next morning.
God Bless!
