Where can you go when you are fearful?
Where can you go when you feel alone?
Where can you go when you are angry?
Where can you go when you feel sad?
Where can you go when the world
seems to fall apart around you?
There is Someone waiting for you
There is Someone who has loved you
since before you were born
There is Someone who knows
every tear you have cried
who understands your painful feelings
There is Someone who
understands every ache you have
Jesus is waiting for you
He welcomes you into
His loving embrace
He says, “Come,
come into this wonderful
life we can share
Come to your creator!”
Reflection
Have you ever imagined the day when Jesus created you? What a wonderful image! I envision Him deciding what we will be like and what gifts He will give us. However, we must remember that He also gave us the cross. He must have thought about what kind of personality we should have, and He’d think about the ways we could bring His love to the world. Each of us in our own unique way of sharing God’s love with those around us. I believe when we were born, we had a sense of being at home with Jesus. This is because we knew He was our creator. We share a bond with Him unlike any other.
As we grow up, we may forget about our bond, or become distracted when we take on personal values that lead us away from Jesus. We may have painful situations that keep us from trusting others, and we may wonder if we can trust Jesus. We may worry about many things and feel fearful. We’re concerned that Jesus might be like other people who have failed us. Our souls feel empty, because we want to be united with the Creator. This is when we feel the most alone.
Jesus will never leave us. He only wants us to love Him, accept His love, and love others. He wants to be with us as we carry our cross. Each one has their own cross to bear. We may think that someone we know has not a problem in the world. I guarantee you, they also have their cross. Then, how can we be joyful while carrying our cross? We can be filled with joy, because we know that we need the cross to understand other’s weaknesses and difficulties. How can we judge another when we have our own flaws? If we are looking for the perfect person to be our friend, we will never find them. This leads to feelings of loneliness. Likewise, if we expect ourselves to be perfect, it will never happen! That also causes desperation and loneliness, because we feel like we can never be a friend, because we are not perfect. Who would like us, anyway? Jesus knows we aren’t perfect. He knows we sometimes fail. It’s easy to get over-involved at work, and we sometimes unintentionally neglect our family and God. It’s easy to do. We forget where home is. We forget to listen to our soul. Today, ask yourself these questions. Record your answers in the space below. What is my cross? What is it that makes it difficult to give love to others and to Jesus? What is it that hinders me from loving myself in a healthy way?
