Next To The Cross But Far From The Blood

Are you looking for the dramatic? Are you waiting for the 'chill of the thrill'? Are you expecting to hear His voice come from the burning bush and missing the still small voice whispering in the wind? Are you expecting the dramatic, the supernatural?

The soldiers and others at the foot of the cross were waiting for Jesus to prove His Godness by ripping the nails from His hands and feet and stepping down from the cross. In so doing this, they missed the most important event ever to occur unto this very day. The self denial, the sacrifice, the turning of His will over to the Father, the giving of His life for the very ones that were taking it. They were seeing prophecy being fulfilled before their very eyes and they missed it all. They were standing at the foot of the cross but they were far from the blood.

The love that was shown that day is the most remarkable love ever shown by any one man, woman or child. "Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for another." Christians today are missing God by looking for and expecting the dramatic. Like the soldiers you can be standing at the foot of the cross and be far from the blood.
