Happy Holidays

Christian Author Writer When I was growing up a long, long time ago. When someone said happy holiday it usually meant school was out or someone was going away . And when I was older and working for a living; when it came to vacation time we would usually say to our friends, “You have a good holiday now.” Now at this time of the year we get, “Happy Holidays, or Holiday Greetings,” whatever that means? Another one is, “Seasons Greetings;” I wish some one would wish me seasons greetings in the spring, I just love the the spring season.

I'm confused, these are terms that seem to be out of context. It seems that meanings of words have changed. For example, they say things are cool, it took me quite a while to figure out what that meant. To me cool meant something was cold. I don't think holiday fits in this category. I think there is something more sinister behind it.

It used to be, “Merry Christmas” was said to friends and loved ones. And “Happy New Year,” these greetings were said and sincerely meant. Christmas was a special time, a time when we remembered that Christmas was, we remembered the birth of Jesus. Jesus by the way, was and still is, the Saviour of the world. Unfortunately many people don't understand what this means; He's more than the Saviour of the world, He is the Saviour of every person in the world but only if they allow Him to be. It's a personal thing and we each have to give it a some serious thought to understand just what it means. The answer to the question that arises is found between the pages of the Bible.

Getting back to the meaning of the term happy holiday; I think it's a conspiracy made up by people out there who don't want to recognize Jesus because He is the Christ. He's the one whose birthday is being celebrated on Christmas day. So Christmas is being replaced by the word holiday. That sounds innocent enough, “We'll just phase out the word Christmas. We can still party and give gifts to each other and pretend someone by the name Santa Claus brought them. Santa can replace Jesus and pretty soon the origin of Christmas will be forgotten and no one will notice.”

I noticed, and I don't like it. I like Christmas because that is the time I get to celebrate the time God activated the plan that was set up before the world began, to liberate me and all else who would be willing to turn their backs on sin and follow Christ.

It seems that whenever I'm in a store or even on the street, someone will say, “Have a good one,” a good what, I wonder? Or, “Have a happy holiday,”

I usually answer with, “I want you to have a Merry Christmas or I hope you have a Blessed Christmas.”

I refuse to use that term, I may be old fashioned but I think being politically correct is out of order and I will continue using the old fashioned greeting, I think Jesus would like that.

I want to wish you all a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY and PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR.

God bless you all.
