Is there a Superstar in the House?

Christian Author Writer Bishop T.D. Jakes, Emeril, Maya Angelou, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton and Wanza McInnis Leftwich…didn’t expect the last one did you?

Did you ever stop to think why some people have it and some people don’t? Why some follow God’s perfect design for their lives and you are struggling? Perhaps your poetry theme was similar to Maya Angelou, but it remained in a journal while she spoke before thousands of people. Better yet, what about the woman who owns the restaurant down the street and she can’t even cook?

How come? Or did you say Why come? However you asked the question, this is the answer. You are not where you should be because of you. It’s a hard pill to swallow, right?

Well, it’s true. We, I will include myself, often times miss our goals and the manifestation of the prophetic word the Lord gives us because we ask too many questions. We ask too many questions regarding who, what, where, when, and the infamous, why me Lord?

How many times has God told you to simply write down the recipe to one homemade sweet potato pie? How many times have you had visions of owning a bakery? And then you say, “but Lord, all I know how to make is pie.” All Kentucky Fried Chicken used to sell in the beginning was fried chicken.

One recipe. One chicken. One empire built.

The Lord says with one talent we can do much. It is the small that leads to the great. Did Bishop T. D. Jakes enter into the world preaching and teaching at an awesome level that he is now? Did the doctor wipe his eyes and say, “Preach, T.D,” I think not. Actually, I know he didn’t. The doctor simply said, “It’s a boy,” and went on to the next delivery.

Superstars may be born, but are not made overnight. It is our responsibility to fulfill our life’s purpose. Often, I watch Oprah and Dr. Phil and I’ve heard many criticisms about them, but you know – say what you want, believe what you do, but the proof is in the pudding. They are accomplishing their life’s purpose. Sure, you may disagree with their philosophies, but success can’t be denied. They are following what they believe is their true divine purpose for being on this earth and are reaping the benefits.

There are millions of unsaved people expressing themselves, living their dreams and pursuing their purpose. Greater is He that is within you than he that is in the world. If the way of the transgressor is hard, meaning those who do not accept Christ as Lord and Savior, how is it they are successful in obtaining their goals? Hmm…

How then can we explain where we are in our pursuit to do God’s will? More than likely is it slothfulness, pity, low-self esteem, lack of faith, and lack of belief in an all-powerful God. But there is hope for us if we are willing to work our dream and believe God to perform in our lives.

I know a woman who raised over $20,000 selling sweet potato pie for her church in one year. She had one recipe and one goal. And she worked it. She was persistent and consistent. Every service she sold her pies until it became a fixture in the church. It didn’t matter if it was choir rehearsal, bible study or Sunday morning service; everyone knew mother was going to be in the lobby selling her pies.

Now was the pie good? It depends on whom you ask. But did mother reach her goal? She certainly did.

One recipe. One pie. One empire built.

We have all been given a measure of faith. The difference between a Superstar and the common person is the result of your ability to move in your talent. It does not matter if you cook, clean houses, fix cars or write poetry. God has given each one of us one thing to do that will lead us to a fulfilled destiny.

Remember, He knew you before you entered your mother’s womb and He had good thoughts of you. It gives him pleasure to see us prosper. Remove the negativity and hindrances from your life. Seek God, write down the dream and go for it. Publish the journal, recite your poems, make cakes for the family, or preach on the street corner if you have to. But whatever you do, don’t waste another day. It’s not too late. Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase. Job 8:7

Is there a Superstar in the house? Yes, it is I.
